Tom Morfitt-White — EPK
Tom Morfitt-White is a teenage singer/songwriter whose music ability has been described as ‘mature’ and ‘beyond his years’ – his piano driven story-telling, creating an emotional journey for listeners.
The Background:
Tom has always been enamoured by music, he grew up mimicking Stevie Nicks in her Live in Chicago DVD (requesting a ‘Stevie Nicks’ cake for his 3rd birthday!), attended his first concert (aged 1), Kate Miller-Heidke at the Spiegel tent in Melbourne, got his first record player at 5 and has consistently created his own tunes (even before he could talk).
He began percussion lessons at the age of 6 with Bianca Aviaz, performing to the Santana/Rob Thomas classic ‘Smooth’ (in a duo) and a traditional Brazilian music repertoire (in a trio) at the end of year concerts.
In Grade 5, Tom joined the Bellarine Performing Arts group, scoring the lead role of Troy Bolton in High School Musical Junior, playing to a packed Potato Shed.
In Grade 6 he started piano theory lessons (after demonstrating he could pick up music by ear).
In the same year, he was awarded best cinematographer and best actor for a short film he made for the SF3 Smart Fone Flick Fest (kids) competition (one of the biggest mobile phone international film-making competitions).
From Year 7, Tom commenced singing lessons with renowned backing vocalist Michelle Serret-Cursio (lead vocalist on Dancing with the stars for 10 years, go to vocalist for many local and international touring artists).
All the while Tom continued to hone his song writing skills – taking inspiration from the likes of Melanie Martinez, Fiona Apple, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.
The Recording:
In 2025, Tom sought a producer to record 4 tracks for an EP, and landed on Magill Lamarre (a US born, London based producer and artist).
After sending her some voice recordings, and numerous zoom calls later, the pen was inked and pre-production commenced. Tom then flew to London to record the songs at TYX studios – Tileyard.
Magill created a comfortable environment for Tom’s first time in the studio. The pair building a genuine, strong rapport and collaborating to bring Tom’s vision for the tracks to life.
Magill noted his maturity and professionalism being a ‘one take vocalist’. Tom’s abilities also garnered interest from producer Sean Hargreaves (who Magill ‘assists’) whose credits include Andre Boccelli, Rita Ora, Mica Paris etc.
Back in Melbourne, the final recordings were sent to Studios 301 for mastering by Steve Smart, one of Australia’s most respected mastering engineers.
His debut single, ‘Love Me Now’ was released in May 2026, followed by ‘Home’ in July. Both accompanied by music videos directed & edited by Tom.
The EP is set to be released late August/early September (date to be confirmed).
Tom has been invited back to TYX to commence session writing and has quickly acquired interest by Australian Music Industry professionals.
